A group of over 20 major Italian and Thai companies gathered in Rome in the stunning and historical location of the “Baths of Diocletian” for the fifth meeting of the Board of the “Italian-Thai Business Forum”, an initiative jointly promoted by the Ambassador of Italy in Bangkok, Lorenzo Galanti, together with the Senior Chairman of the Board of Trade of Thailand (BOT), Isara Vongkusolkit, with the support and the collaboration of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thai Ambassador in Rome Chirdchu Raktabutr.
To underline this success and the growing relevance of bilateral ties, for the first time the Board has been opened by an official member of the Italian Government. The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Manlio Di Stefano has emphasized the role of Thailand as a regional hub, also with reference to the opportunities offered by ASEAN area.
The Chairman of SACE (the credit export agency, wholly owned by the national promotional institution) Beniamino Quintieri provided an overview of the current situation and existing potential with reference to trade and investments between the two Countries.
The sectors involved so far range from automotive to banking, construction materials, infrastructure and transportation, food, insurance, furniture, lifestyle, oil&gas and renewable energy, machinery, sugar, retail, rubber, petrochemicals and tourism
On the Italian side, leading companies as Cavagna Group, CNH Industrial, Ducati, Ferrero, Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane (Italian Railways), Inalca Food & Beverage (Cremonini Group), Italmobiliare, Leonardo, Pirelli, Saipem, UniCredit and Vittoria attended the Board. On the Thai side the Co-President Busaba Chirathivat, Executive Vice President of Central Group, (the owner of La Rinascente department stores in Italy) led the executives of Bangkok Bank, Merchant Partners Asset Management, Mitr Phol, SB Furniture Group, Siam Cement Group, Singha Corporations, Thaivivat Insurance, Thai Airways International, Thai Summit Autoparts Industry and Tourism Authority of Thailand.
During their stay in Italy, the Thai delegates have also the opportunities to take part to a beautiful journey from technology to architecture and arts to food, starting from CNH Industrial Village in Turin till the new developments in promoting food, Italian cuisine and luxury by Cremonini Group.
